Results from Week 2

Results from Week 2 (24/04/10) :

Div 1:
Zespol Fc 1 Tour de France 8
Swee Swee Fc 2 Schwarz Star Fc 2

Div 2:
Hooyah Fc 5 Kamago'z 5
Coca Cola SSC 4 Team Goat 2

Sons of Selarang 2 Hooyah Fc 3 (Result was reflected wrongly last time round)

Anyway, apparently a new team just joined the league. Serangoon United. So there will be 9 teams in our division for now. Till a decision on kamago'z is made.
Enjoy the fact that aside from the new team, we are the only ones who still stand to have a perfect record of wins. More soccer to look forward to next sat!!

Breaking News!

Ysosrs FC is happy to announce that it has signed free agent Mahdi for an undisclosed fee.

A shrewd decision by our gaffer saw agent Syafiq approach the star player for a possible transfer a week ago. Terms were finally agreed on this evening.

Eminent within the Temasek Sec fraternity, Mahdi would certainly add more flair to the attacking front by providing the deft touches and movements much needed during crunching moments of a match.

With the signing of mahdi, it will put an end to any other business dealings for the current season. Having had a fantastic squad assembled, the management team will now look to the upcoming games to allow the team to gel. Whether the team ends up as a man city or a real madrid of the class from '10 (losers) or the chelski boys of the class from the mourinho era (champions), it will all depend on how quickly the team settles down and get into their stride.

League updates

There will be NO matches for this saturday and next saturday. We will be taking a break because most of the team will be having exams.
Rest well during this period people. Will update on news of other scores and a heads up on last saturdays game: The organising committee of the league are investigating the incidents of the game and i have submitted my report on the game too. If found guilty, i believe the player who assaulted hoe guan will be banned from the league. And Kamago'z will be penalised a further 2 points. A more severe punishment would be that the entire team would be thrown out of the league: Quite unlikely though.

Boys in blue overcome the odds

15:00 Hrs, Clementi Woods Sec

YSOSRS FC 3 Kamago'z 2
(Juf x1, Law x1, Rudee x1)

Reporting live from the confines of my comfy home:

The boys in blue headed into their 1st match to face an unknown quantity in Kamago'z.
First impressions were, 'wah, an indian team? Kao. Sure damn fast', and whatever else that was said has to be censored. The venue, Clementi Woods Sec definitely did live up to its name. Grassy, woody and run down. It was like a scene from the 80's where kids in their kampongs kicked their rattan balls in an attempt to hone their skills.

Well, the boys in blue definitely did try to display their skills from the kick off. A perfectly legal goal by syafiq was chalked off by the referee. Period. Our indian counterparts however had the edge in terms of speed as their continual long balls down the middle caused havoc for the boys in blue. 2 such instances led to our opponents grabbing the initiative and leading. I'm sure all who were present at the game were tired of the constant bickering, taunting and drama that unfolded with each tackle. 10 of the 1st 40 minutes were perhaps allocated to the interruptions. Frustration grew. There were yellow cards to several players from both sides and emotions threatened to boil over. Heads also dropped as morale seemed to be seeping from the high flying team.
YSOSRS however did pull a goal back when goal machine, Juf controlled a high punt and went on an onward sprint towards the opponents goal. What soon unfolded was a bizzare sequence of events, when the goal machine ran the ball all the way into the back of the net to pull a goal back. 2-1 it finished at the half.

The 2nd half played out in pretty much the same fashion. Drama and more drama. However a red card for one of the opponents changed the face of the game. Space opened up and the opponents soon got caught out as a long searching pass found law whose delicate touch was all that was needed to tie the game. Full marks for bravery. Our tails were up and we went in search for a winner with 10 mins to go.

A neat interchange of passes soon after between ronald, law and then juf found the man with a half chance in the box. You would probably have bet your game fees on him scoring the winner but unfortunately, the half volley was screwed wide. Agony for all. None more so than for the man himself.

Cometh the hour, cometh the man. Rudee who was making his debut in this game was silent for much of his debut. However there were touches and bursts of speed that signaled potential. The man with the nimble feet sent the team and the guys on the bench into a state of euphoria as his cross cum shot arrowed over the keeper and into the net. 3-2. A sheepish look and then a grin as his team mates mobbed him. The game finished 3-2 as the comeback was complete. The ugly scenes during and after the game have been reported and we hope for a fullstop to the entire situation.

My man of the match: Syafiq (Dominant in midfield, the Yaya toure of the team. Special mention to the captain of the day, Hizam for his ever so stable influence and also to the goal machine Juf for the mind games on our opponents and also the goal scoring threat he carried.)

Thoughts:
1) I like the character of the team. We fought, we grafted. Guys, everyone on the pitch now decked out in our team's blue is your brother on the field. Haha corny as it is, fight for him.

2) This victory showed more about the team than the 2 friendlies put together. Well done. Don't ever let your heads drop when things are not going your way, there will be many other situations like today.

3) I think the victory is even sweeter considering how we earned it. To all 17 of you who turned up for the game, thanks for the hard work. Excellent stuff.

4) A 2 saturday break as we recover from the battle scars we got from today. 3 points earned and i like the team spirit showed as the game grew. Thanks guys.

New implementations

Hey guys, i have decided to introduce a new award that would be bestowed upon one outstanding individual each month. Every month, regardless of how many matches the team plays, the one player from YSOSRS FC who stands out most will be named the Player of the Month! (We will start from the month of May onwards. This saturdays game will be taken into account for assessment together with matches played in the month of April)

I will be assessing each individual based on 2 categories.
1) Performances on the field (Leadership, influence, effectiveness, heart) (20 points)
2) Commitment (Attendance for games, Punctuality for games) (10 points)

The assessment of each player will be based on a total of 30 points, naturally the one individual with the highest points will be awarded the honour of the player of the month!

In the first place, i believe that regardless of incentives or rewards, each and every individual should give their all for the team. However, to spice things up and make it more interesting, i have decided to give a small incentive for winners of the award.

The award for being the player of the month will be 1 free match. Meaning that you don't have to pay for a league match that u play in the following month.

There will be a further big award that we will have at the end of our 1st season to acknowledge the stand-out performer within the team:

1) YSOSRS FC's Player of the Season (Everyone involved with the team will vote for their most outstanding performer of the season, that includes girlfriends or even boyfriends of the players)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A few things that i wana say to the whole team before we kick off our league:

Primary goals of the team for this season:
1) Bonding as a team off and on the field.
2) Playing for each other. And not just for yourself. Encourage each and everyone in the team.
3) A balance of joy and discipline. Knowing when to enjoy, and when to knuckle down and play hard.
4) To love the game of football even more.

I believe that if we achieve all of these, the results will start to fall in place there after. We will suffer defeats but we will also win plenty. But most importantly, its the fact that we do it together as a team that matters most. We are a new team with plenty of fresh faces, but make it a point to say hi to everyone before games and to say bye before we leave. Thats how friendships are formed.

Enjoy the start of the league season!

Numero Uno

Introducing YSOSRS FC blog’s brand new segment! Every week (well, hopefully) YSOSRS FC blog will feature one of our very own players and discuss anything related to football. Stay tuned because you could be next!

Our very first featured player of the week is Dinie, our prolific forward. (Man on the left in picture) Dinie never fails to impress us with his mastery of the ball; his touches, even when not at their best, are sublime. Defence splits like the red sea behind his trail, leaving behind only remnants of what was once there. An astute move by our gaffer saw him move upfront to partner our star striker Jufri , and Dinie has not looked back since.

Name: Dinie

Age: 21

Height: 183cm

Weight: 75kg

Position: Striker

Preferred foot: Right

Hi, Dinie. Can you first tell us a little about the footballing side of you?

Started off when I was five. Even then I was terrorising the other kids at the void deck. Hahaha. Was a defender in primary school, became a midder from secondary school and was recently converted into a striker by me boss, Mok.

What about your style of playing?

I prefer to have the ball at my feet and dancing circles around the opposition. Maybe that is how I got the moniker Dancing Dinie from my previous team. I see myself more as a flair player rather than a Park-type of player. But Park man … ASIAN PRIDE!

How do you feel about your performances so far?

SFSG – SO far so good bro. 3 goals in two matches. Add to that numerous assists, flicks and a blossoming partnership. Life has never been more beautiful hahaha.

Your partnership with Jufri up front is pretty impressive. 8 goals in 2 games scored between the two of you!

Yes as I mentioned earlier it is blossoming. And the stats don’t lie. And it can make the opposition wet their knickers. But it’s still early days. We have to prove our mettle against tougher, more experienced opposition. But credit to Jufri, he’s a goal machine. I’m just a prancing about masquerading as a striker haha!

You must be excited about your first league game this saturday? What are your expectations for this season?

Bar the turmoil in my personal life, Im stoked for this Saturday. I will score three goals. HAHAHA

And expectations? Top goalscorer and for our team YSOSRS, numero uno.
