YSOSRS FC 9 NDU Team 1
Juf x2, Law x2, Wong x2, Jasmond x1, Dinie x1, Ronald x1
Reporting live from a game that had our 2 fervent fans in aisyah and catherine, together with the field wardens who probably did not really give two hoots about the game.
We expected a tough game when we found out that our opponents were a current batch of NDU guys and perhaps their fitness would be superior. The game started off in a rather scrappy manner as the rather narrow field contributed alot to the constant mass orgies in the middle of the pitch. YSOSRS FC kicked off the 1st half in a 4-4-1-1 formation with debuts for jasmond, sian wei and wei sheng.
There was little to cheer about till the 20th minute when an excellent through ball by wei sheng, released the effervescent wong who pounced on the opportunity to open his account for his new team with a well slotted finish. YSOSRS FC however went to sleep temporarily as the opposition's indian star player curled a short corner into the bottom corner past sian wei.
Despite the setback, the boys from the land of not so serious-ness were always capable of finding a second as law finished off yet another quick burst. 2-1 it finished at half time as the boys from the land of beautiful football huffed and puffed and were slightly disappointed at the lack of opportunities to show off the deadly link up play that had put schwarz star fc to the sword in the week before.
The message at half time was simple. To be solid while defending. And to have the freedom of expressing ourselves whilst in attack.
The 2nd half kicked off as the heavens started to open up on the orchid park cauldron. The magician dinie came into the game and dazzled despite a rumoured hangover from the sidelines. *hmmmm*. Anyway, sorry folks, the exact events leading up to the goals in the 2nd half soon became a blur as i was unable to keep track of the scoreline. Haha. A special mention for the blistering volley of a goal from speed demon, wong which was the pick of the bunch in the 2nd half as silky football led the way to the floodgates opening. The boys from YSOSRS FC plummeted the opponents goal 7 times to end the game 9-1 winners.
My man of the match: Wong (His direct running and pace troubled the opponents all game)
Some words from me:
1) The football we played in the 2nd half was breathtaking at times and it forced the opponents to crack under pressure.
2) The opponents were once again not the best, but they did test us more defensively. Well done to the defense and in particular hizam who commanded the defence excellently and working well with the steady huijie.
3) Learn from the experience we had today. There was a world of difference between the 1st and 2nd half. We played as individuals in the 1st, but as a team in the 2nd for we covered each other's ass and we fought hard for every ball.
4) For those who are not aware. We have changed the team name to YSOSRS FC which stands for 'why so serious football club'.
5) Thanks for coming down and i seriously felt that everyone played their part and did well. Cheerios guys.
6) We will be taking a break from soccer next saturday, 10th April 2010. Stay tuned for more matches in the following week.
