SUFI FC 0 Redsaga II FC 0 [Game abandoned after 50 minutes, Result pending]
Hola amigos, not the kind of day that we had envisioned. A hot as hell day and the pitch wasn't the best. Terribly bumpy although the size of the field was fantastic. And yet it was an anti-climatic end to the game as the game was abandoned with at least 30 minutes to go after an incident that was deemed sufficiently violent for the ref to call off the game. They say lightning does not strike twice but for us, it has happened yet again. The 1st time being the 0-0 game with Supernova at the start of the season where incessant rain caused the game to be rained off. The result of this game will now depend on how the espzen committee views the reports from all parties and any decision will only be made known by monday.
If the result were to stand, it would be a terrible shame considering that we did try our best to convince the ref to resume the game. Not forgetting, we had to pay the full cost of the game for this. Farcical stuff. At this point of time, it is still possible that we are awarded a walk-over for the game but honestly, having our title hopes extinguished because of the impudence show by one individual is nonsensical in my opinion. Furthermore, with Redsaga down to 10 men and having just thrown Vic, Mahdi and Dinie into the fray, we were in a strong position to go on and at least launch a strong assault for the 3 points. Oh well, we shall see how it goes and take it from there.
Whatever the case, I did enjoy that very very rare occasion where the entire team was able to play against each other in a light hearted kick about. 1st time ever boys!! Cheers for coming down and at least the kickabout allowed us to work those limbs a little. Let's also hope that the MBFP game is organised for us and stay tuned for any news latest by Monday or Tuesday!
