"Giant" Killing Act Averted

Woodlands Sec, 1500 Hrs

YSOSRS FC 4  SDP Fushan Warriors 2

(Syafiq, Yas [pen], Ron, Amin)

On a day in which some of the usual jokers squad were given a day off to rest their bones in preparation for the back to back crucial games in our league, the jokers kept up their mini winning run in a pulsating clash up north.

Putting together a squad that had our basic strong spine, coupled with the lads who needed minutes under their belt, the jokers sauntered into the pitch late and looking a tad too complacent. Our opponents on the day though were warmed up and looking ready for what turned out to be a so very interesting afternoon. Oh yes, I must add that SDP Fushan Warriors (Yes, they are sponsored by SDP :D ) looked like an Under 18's side so I guess that played on the mind of the jokers as the game kicked off.

Bloody hell did it play on our minds as we were sluggish and slow to every ball. The younger lads of the warriors were first to the header, first to clear, first to... Yah you get the idea. And there was a initial warning inside the 1st 15 minutes when one of their attackers struck a looping shot that hit the frame of our goal.

That was not heeded as a poorly defended corner by our standards meant that one of their young lads wheeled away in excitement upon smashing the loose ball into the back of our net. The reality soon sank in when a direct freekick was struck to double their lead. Our opponents were in dreamland at this point of time, whilst we were looking to come out of it.

That was when we finally started attempting to put in the challenges and pressurizing our opponents. Half chances came and went but we did get closer to scoring.

Still, it was 2-0 at HT to SDP Fushan Warriors and the jokers one foot out of the Plate tourney.

After a couple of changes at the half and some rallying words later, the boys were back out on the pitch looking to throw the kitchen sink in our attempts to get back into the game.

1-2: A lofted ball forward by the impressive Hafeez saw a foot race between Eugene Bale n Del Syafiqo. The former got to it first and had enough of his head on the ball. Fast forward a messy few seconds later, Del Syafiqo was on hand to slam home the rebound much to the dismay of the keeper. Back in the game albeit unconvincingly.

2-2: Going into a 3-5-2 formation for the final 10 minutes was perhaps the best contribution from the gaffer on the day with a reinforced midfield trio of Hafeez, Dinietov and Syafiqo. Capitan Ron hustled and hurried the defense into giving the ball away up top before a stone wall penalty was given in our favour when his legs were caught inside the box. Up stepped Yasinho to not so calmly tuck the equalising goal home *after seeing his balls drop to the ground*.

3-2: With the jokers in the ascendency, it was left to a ball out to the right for our new friend John who beat his marker and proceeded to dig a delightful cross into the box. Invitingly delicious it was for our Capitan headed home powerfully from 6 yards to put us in front for the first time in the game. Cue the moment for delirious celebrations by himself. Oooh so sexay.

4-2: There was time for a moment of Amin magic as his rampaging run from left back via a delightful through ball by John again saw him tuck home a left footed shot from an acute angle. The icing on the cake most definitely.

Only just but we made use of the full 80+ minutes to get the job done. Well played lads and a great comeback it most definitely was. Onwards to the biggie now yo. Cheers all!
