High and 'Messy'

Woodlands Ring Sec, 1500 Hrs
YSOSRS FC 5 Rosso FC 0
(Santosh x3, Juf x2)

Looking at the game objectively, 5 goals and a clean sheet represents an awesome afternoon's work for the boys in white. Some absolutely sweet finishes and of course some completely atrocious ones that we shall not talk about today. As most of you should have seen, our opponents lined up with 7 blue shirts plus a keeper to kickstart the game. Knowing that it was there for the taking, Coach Yasinho lined up the men to put pressure from the word go.

1-0: 10 minutes in and with the opponents forming a blue fortress in front of their goal, we scored via a typical route. A Rory Wong-lap missile that caught our opponents flatfooted and there he was, Toshie-boy, gleefully flicking it over the keeper and into the back of the net from 6 yards.

2-0: After much huffing and puffing plus wasting of chances, our top shot decided to take matters into our own hands as he received a ball on the left of our opponents penalty box. Cutting in and with little hesitation, the man unleashed a rocket into the bottom left hand corner of the goal to double our lead. Ahhh how we could have done with him last week. Oh well.

3-0: With our opponents having to do all the chasing and the heat taking its toll on them, Rosso gradually slowed. Toshie-boy though took a leaf out of Juf's book as off a dribble from the left, he cut and and unleashed a carbon copy of a shot that arrowed into the bottom left hand corner leaving the keeper with no chance. And that was how the half ended with the atmosphere being more a friendly game oddly enough.

Going for the kill, Yasinho lined the boys up in a 442 formation hoping that the early goal in the 2nd half would dispel any hopes of a comeback. Hell yeah he was right.

4-0: True enough, 10 minutes into the half, Juf latches on to a through ball down the right by... ahcool? and he powered his way past his marker to unleash another stinging drive that flicked off the defenders boot to hit the roof of the net. We were in cruise control if i'm being honest as the competitiveness in the game gradually disappeared.

5-0: Not content with scoring twice. Off another Wonglap long throw, Tosh who had been shifted up front by now brought the ball down delightfully with his first touch right in front of goal. With a man hustling him from the back, a quick turn and a smashing finish by the lad into the bottom left hand corner sealed the game for us.

At 5, there was still time for the Mok show as he missed two really clear cut chances towards the end of the game (apologies boys) and Yasinho decided to join as a side kick as he failed to convert another 1 on 1 chance. Mahdi, if you are reading, help!!

MOTM: Tosh. Pace, power and lots of directness in his play. Just what we needed on an odd day for the team. Special mention goes to Juf for his deadly finishing once again as well as Law's dogged display in the middle. The defensive unit kept their concentrations well as they went long periods of the game without touching the ball too much. Kudos.

Gaffer's Thoughts: Real business-like performance and at the end of the day, despite being down to a small squad for the day, we did what was needed plus of course we shared a good laugh. Loved the spirit and we will reconvene for next Saturday's league game against Supernova. See u boys.
