YSOSRS 2 Sengkang Rangers 0
(Izwann x1, Yas x1)
And here we are, 2 games away from the promise land. Yet, nothing remains for certain with the jokers having to win both our final games to be assured of the championship goal in what has been a closely fought race with fellow contenders, Intense and St Andrews.
Going into the game with SKR, the boys were all aligned on a common thought. 3 points being the order of the day. Turning up in force at a ground in which we were annihilated just under 14 days back, the pinkies were all set and ready to go for the jugular in a must win game.
1-0: It did not take too long for the jokers to assert their dominance in the middle of the pitch. As the experienced Ubai stormed forward and after much hustling (dancing would be a more appropriate word for me), released the effervescent cockroach man up top. In line with the form he had been showing all season, our front man calmly stepped past an odd full blooded sliding challenge in the box, before passing the ball into the back of the net from 8 yards. 5 minutes gone and we were a goal up.
The perfect scenario for the jokers who were looking for an early goal to settle the nerves.
2-0: Sensing that SKR were taking some time to get into their stride, the jokers went for it again. Less than 10 minutes later, Izwann burst forward down the right wing and after much cha cha-ing in with his marker, sends in a wicked cross that had *blast me into e fugging net will u* written all over it. Well that was just that as Yas came hurrying in from the back post and expertly side volleyed it into the back of the net.
The rest of the half was played out to the tune of conserving ourselves somewhat dangerously on hindsight as we allowed SKR to gradually get into the game. 2-0 it was at the half with the intense heat taking centre stage today.
The 2nd half came and with a whole host of changes, we looked to consolidate our position in the game plus also keep an eye on the ever dangerous Naga from SKR. Well folks, we did both of that well as the game petered out to little fan fare in the 2nd. The couple of odd chances here and there for the jokers with both Mok and Yas missing excellent chances to seal the game.
Special mention to our keeper of the day, Shahrin who flung himself expertly from point blank range to save what would have been a certain goal from the SKR front man.
A clean sheet, 2 goals and 3 points. All in an excellent day's work lads... Onwards to the plate semi's come Saturday. =D
