5 months and counting...

Hi guys, i was just looking back at the first few posts in this blog and it led me on a rather long thought process. Unknowingly, we have already come through 5 months as a team. It is not an outrageously long time but it has been a rather amazing period spent together. Our 1st match was against Schwarz Star FC at Canberra Sec on the 27th of March. It was the 1st time that majority of us had even seen each other, lest to say play footie with each other and yet somehow we all seemed to strike the right chord and we romped to an early 7-0 victory. The fact that I also scored with a rare scorching long range shot on that day made it all the more perfect.

Fast forward 5 months now and to see ourselves in this position of being involved in an exciting title hunt despite having only played together as a unit for a short period of time, leaves me filled with pride as to how things have panned out thus far. Social teams normally play together for countless months and years before they embark on the ride to test their capabilities. We on the other hand, rather hastily put together a team and joined a league within a few short weeks. Our start to the league was nothing short of amazing. Having now been through the customary blips that all teams normally will have to face, i am glad that we have continued to stick together despite the setbacks.

More importantly, i would like to say that although we started out as strangers, through YSOSRS FC, i have made so many more friends and had so many enjoyable weekend sessions of footie with you guys. The process of putting together this team from scratch all the way to the now settled stage which we are at, with huge turnouts each week, everything has far exceeded my expectations. I now start my weeks just hoping that saturday comes around as soon as possible.

Whatever the eventual outcome of our team this season, do know that I am proud of whatever we achieve cause the mere fact that we continue to gather together each week to pull on our blue jerseys and fight for the common cause of the team is probably the greatest achievement this season. Of course, a special shoutout to all the girlfriends and even friends that turn up for our games week in and week out when you could perhaps be doing something else more important and also for showing understanding towards the fact that the team takes up a precious afternoon each weekend of your partners time. Thank you guys and girls for making the team what it is today. I look forward to many many more months of footie with all you guys.

Let's end the season in the same spirit we started it and hopefully with luck we will end it with some gold around our necks!

Mok
