On a day where the fickle-minded weather of our beloved island threatened to cause the cancellation of our league game, the skies eventually cleared and the day ended with plenty of positives for the boys in blue as we overcame our good friends in Hooyah FC.
I couldn't exactly remember all that happened in the game and thus i will not go into specifics here. However i do have to compliment the entire team on a thoroughly professional performance. We had safe hands at the back, a water tight defense and an engine room that was always in top gear coupled with an attacking foursome that constantly threatened our opponents goal. This was regardless of the personnel who played today and it can only be epitomized by Sian Wei's solid defensive display at right back despite not having played outfield in a long while. Great team performance. Well done guys.
Even though our opponents played the 1st half of the game with only 10 men, as a footballing cliche always goes 'Sometimes playing against 10 men can be harder than against a full complement of players'. Kudos to our guys for keeping full concentration throughout the 70+ minutes (I have reason to believe that the freaking referee played like at least 10 minutes less. DAMN HIM!)
MOM: On a day where everyone played their parts well, 2 guys stood out despite this. Rudee who continued his streak of scoring goals by the bucket loads with a clinical display of finishing and bagging himself a hattrick in the 1st half. And Sub for a similarly predator like performance in front of goal with a well taken hattrick in the 2nd half. I could not separate you guys and thus both of you were my Man of the Match today. Well done guys!
A special thanks to the muslim guys (Zam, Farhan, Rudee, Jufri, Subhi, Syafiq and Wei Sheng), who soldiered on and played the game despite having to fast. I appreciate the effort and commitment. Thanks guys! Let the result set in and we will meet again next week!
