In a month that has seen YSOSRS FC undergo an indifferent sequence of results on the field that has called into question the team's temperament and ability to withstand the pressure of going into matches as favourites, few of the players have come out with much credit with their performances on the field. 2 defeats against Naranja AFC (1-0) and then Thunderveluboomqiesi (2-0), coupled with the 3-2 defeat against Team Goat in late June had seen the team succumb to a horrific 3 match losing streak in the league.
One player who has seen his stock rise over the past month has been Ronald aka Mr Versatility. A jack of all trades however in the man's case, he has been a master at a large majority of them. Despite the crushing defeats suffered, Ronald stood tall as he at times single handedly repelled the Naranja attacks and marshaled our depleted back-line superbly. What was even more amazing was the fact that he also donned the keeper's uniform for a half against the THunder team and played his heart out for the cause of the team. Perhaps most fittingly though, he was rewarded for his heart-on-his sleeves performances with a brace in the most recent friendly match as he attempted to remind the gaffer of his finishing abilities. (Noted!)
Gaffer's Words: I would like to congratulate the man for his consistent performances on the field. Regardless of the personnel he plays alongside, he has continually shown his ability to give his 120% effort and concentration in games. Despite us only being a social football team, our version of Mr I-Can-Play-Anywhere (in the words of super agent Del Syafiqo) is the very epitome of a team player. He has never complained about the lack of playing time or being played out of position in his short career here so far with YSOSRS and has always given quality in the time that he is on the pitch. A brilliant player to have, an excellent team-mate to play alongside and a great friend off the pitch as well. The personal accolade of player of the month is only befitting of the man and hopefully he continues to turn in such performances as the business end of the season comes about. Congrats to you dude!
I sincerely hope that every single one of the boys decked out in blue will allow their character to show through with their performances on the field and a good time would be to start this saturday.
