Bedok South Sec, 1500 hrs
(Jufri x2, Mok x2, Wong x1)
Over on the terrible pitch of Estadio Bedoky South, the boys in blue finally registered a strong convincing victory that allowed them to leapfrog to the top of the table, after Team Goat crashed to a 3-1 humbling at the hands of Naranja AFC.
Details of the match were as follows:
1) Player of the month of May and vice capitain, Jufri smashes the ball from just outside the box with so much power that it was pass the keeper before he could even react. Stunning goal to put YSOSRS up by a goal after just 15 minutes.
An unfortunate defensive lapse gifted the speeder Serangoon Utd winger a one on one chance which he duly finished with aplomb. 1-1 and we were left shell shocked for we had been well in control of the game thus far. The rest of the half was played out with sporadic chances for jufri and ws who threatened with long shots. 1-1 it finished at the half with a blistering sun, and a game that severely lacked any rhythm.
2) The 2nd goal duly came through a neat interchange of passes from our front 3 of law to juf and then finally to wong who took the bouncing ball down well on his chest and left the keeper with no chance via a thumping half volley. 2-1! The man comes up with a crucial goal yet again!
3) Juf wins the team a penalty off a tackle from behind by the SU player. Mok (albeit the slight whispers of misusing his gaffer power) stepped up and confidently sent the keeper the wrong way. So it was, 3-1 and we had obtained the insurance goal.
4) Mok scores with a thumping shot just outside the penalty box which took a slight deflection on its way towards goal. All was only possible after good work by law down the right, with the ball eventually nestling itself in the bottom left corner. It was some goal after a good interchange of play!!!
5) Some dazzling or isit pin-ball passing from the Blue Express finds hg who swung in a peach of a cross for the unmarked juf. The predator in the box who is currently chasing lionel messi's impressive hurl of 47 goals found himself free in the box and duly converts the play with a simple header into the back of the net. And so it was, 5-1 with hardly any time remaining in the game.
My Man of the match: Lian quan aka Ji (Park Ji Sung). His amazing covering in the defensive midfield position allowed our attackers the freedom to express ourselves. He was quite literally, our 3 lunged man.
Well done to juf for 2 excellently taken goals and once again to WONG! Stunning goal but please...! Less flicks dude!
Some words:
1) Fantastic performance guys! We did well despite being rusty. Show the hunger and we will duly be rewarded. Thank you to every single player who turned up. Your laughter and cheering made it a memorable day of footie. Love you guys, loving the team and loving every moment of our saturday footie.
2) Catherine just told me that she overheard our opponents saying at the start of the game that they were sian before even playing because we looked so enthu and pro with everyone dressed in similar colours and warming up well before 3pm. I think the team cheer definitely shook them up too. Sometimes, it is the small things that can give us a psychological advantage even before the game. Lets work on instilling fright into our opponents before we even kick a ball in the future man!
3) One last thing and do take note of it. As much as we say that results are secondary, let us be reminded that we should not hand the game on a plate to our opponents. Do at least play hard and if we still lose, at least we tried. Do not let complacency creep into the game for i saw quite alot of it in the last 15 minutes of our game.
