YSOSRS in 7th heaven

Queenstown Sec, 1500 Hrs

YSOSRS FC 7 Marc FC 0
(Law x2, Wong x1, Dinie x1, Hg x1, Rudee x1, Juf x1)

It was an excellent weather to kick off yet another game of football on a saturday. A good sized squad of 18 turned up for what was initially suppose to be a league game against S.O.S but was changed to a friendly against Marc FC.

Events of the game were as follows:

Goal 1: Law executed a stunning scissors kick via a long throw from Rory Wong.

Goal 2: Rory Wong goes one better with a throw in that arrows over the keeper who had an unfortunate part to play in the goal as he narrowly brushed against it on its way in. 2-0 with only 15 mins gone.

Goal 3: Mahdi comes up with deft feint and a burst that takes him pass his marker and into the box from the left. A hard low ball into the 6 yard area was delivered and it was subsequently smashed in by our prolific goal machine, juf.

End of 1st Half

Goal 4: Dinie-tov scores what is a contender for the goal of the day with a quick turn and a shot from outside that box that nestles into the back of the net before the keeper could even react.

Goal 5: Rudee reacts quickest to a rebound in the box and sends it straight into the back of the net. (Sorry i couldnt remember the exact details before the goal!)

Goal 6: Rampaging full back Hg scores his 1st goal ever for the team with a deft diving-header flick off a freekick delivered by his best cock friend Ws. Fantastic finish dude!

Goal 7: Somewhat controversial goal as once again, Rory Wong delivers a trademark long throw that causes mayhem in the opposition box. Initial reports have credited law with the goal as it apprently flicked off his arm en-route to goal.

Some thoughts from me:

1) The opponents were not the best, but we showed that we can play the free flowing dominant football that we have in our arsenal as shown in our earlier friendly games. Well done guys. Attempt to replicate this performance when we play in our league games.

2) Football is a TEAM game. The best TEAM always wins. Look at our opponents today. Internal squabbles and etc. We are doing very well in terms of gelling with each other. Keep it going peeps.

3) The only qualm that i had about the performance today was that communication wise, we are still lacking. Keep talking to each other. If a team mate wonders out of position, remind him nicely and etc. There are only a couple of us that does that. It is not a difficult thing, and neither is it the role of only specific characters in the team i.e the captain.

4) Overall, decent run out and hope u guys enjoyed the session. Well done team. Keep your heads down and when the going gets tough, you will see our team spirit pulling us through.

5) 1 more thing. Think of something that we can shout when we do a team huddle before our games. Something like 'serious!' or whatever u want. We will make it a tradition from the next game onwards. Just post any ideas that u have in the chat box!

My man of the match:
It was a straight fight between Wong (not only for his crazily effective long throws but also his directness and skills whilst on the flanks) and Farhan. However, i will give Farhan the 'award' for his Dani alves-like runs and crunching tackles throughout his time on the field. Excellent versatility to play on both right and left back! Well done dude!

Kudos to dinie (for the 20-25min period where u were dictating every single attacking play. that is the magician that i know, at work), hizam for a performance that we are being accustomed to seeing every week (solid as usual) and most importantly, keeper of the day, Sian Wei for what was a smashing performance between the sticks. Commanding and good shot stopping contributed to the clean sheet. Cheers dude and look forward to our league game next sat.

Guys not in the team photo: Rudee, Phileo (We will try to take one another time man!)
